Bristol Pride is a popular LGBTQ community in United Kingdom. This community is celebrating its 15th anniversary as Pride Day in Durdham Down. Around 50,000 people are expected to join this two weeks long event. Event Organizer specially noted that this is a family friendly event where anybody can including children. Where as Children under 16 must be with their parents. Also There is specially dedicated family area for them.
There are bunch of activities to do including theatre, music, boat tours, circus, comedy, talks, cinema, and more. This year’s festivities are extra special because of the debut of the Pride Ballroom event. On this Saturday, the Bristol Ballroom Community kicked off the 2024 festival in style with the Pioneers of Pride Kiki Ball, which adds a vibrant and exciting new dimension to the celebrations.

These all cheers which they enjoying now has a long history of suffer of their existence in our society. Now a days we can accept these kind of abnormality very simply but it was not normal in past. American media company Healthline mentioned 47 types in LGBTQ but most common terminology use widely is ‘Homosexuality’
LGBTQ community is as ancient as Human being
There many homosexual relationships were founded out which dated back even before 11th century. But the truth is this community has a history as long as human existence. In Hindu culture Queer’s are mean as form of Goddess. Even in the Indian epic tale of ‘Mahabharata’ (3100 BCE) there is a warrior named ‘Shikhandi‘ who was queer by born and played an important role to save ‘Arjuna’ (the third eldest brother in Pandavas) in the great war between ‘Kauravas’ and ‘Pandavas’.

Following, there are several examples of same sex marriage in Roman empire. American based scholar and professor ‘Craig A. Williams’ mentioned same sex marriage in 1st century in his book ‘Roman Homosexuality‘.
In today’s time there are 133 countries where homosexuality is decriminalized but only 36 nations throughout the world who have legalized same sex marriages. Netherlands was the first nation who officially certified this act in 2001.

The world is changing but mentality will take time.
- Estonia, Greece, Aruba and Curacao are the countries who joined this league in 2024.
- Where as India is fighting for legalization of same sex marriage performance.
- Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iran, and Brunei are the countries where same sex marriage is not just illegal but also punishable offense.

These community people has faced many trouble and pain so far for many centuries. Weather you call it Acceptance in society, assault, harassment, domestic violence and much more. Their painful stories are countless but today’s intellectual societies are now accepting them gradually and giving them freedom to do what they like to do.

Recently, The American President Joe Biden’s administration has announced a new rule to expand protections against discrimination for gay and transgender Americans seeking medical care. This move reverses Trump-era policies that had removed federal health protections for LGBTQ+ individuals.
